Smile Makeover

Dr Leonardi and her treatment coordinator always meet with all patients to hear and understand what is important to their unique wants and needs. This is what we learned from one of our long-standing loyal patients. She stated that she did not care for the appearance of her teeth. One issue was the space between her two front teeth. Additionally, this lovely woman thought her teeth were too small for her
face and said, “I wish my teeth did not look like little chicklets.” She felt that the overall color had darkened with time, and wished this could be different as well.

The solution involved a thorough evaluation to determine the best long-term option to ensure that our
patient’s goals were met. It was determined that she had lost moderate height with her teeth due to
extensive clenching and grinding over time. This meant that the bite needed to be rebuilt into a
harmonious bite so that any esthetics would last as long as possible.

Dr Leonardi worked closely with her state-of-the-art lab and designed a combination of crowns and
veneers to open the bite and change the shape of the teeth back to a normal height and shape which has been worn away over several years. A wax-up was performed showing the result which is a mockup of what the teeth look like in wax so that the patient knew what the result would look like before
committing to the case. She was excited and gave us permission to proceed.

Another goal the patient stated was to have whiter teeth and a professional system called KOR was used which is a combination of in-office and take-home trays. This was completed prior to starting the
restorative aspect of the case.

Once whitening was completed, our patient joined Dr Leonardi and her talented team of Dental
Assistants to begin the restorations of the upper arch. This took place in the morning with the patient
leaving in temporary restorations.

The lab then begins to fabricate the beautiful crowns and veneers as per the written instructions from
Dr Leonardi so the perfect size, shape, and color would provide esthetics that are natural and functional.

Four weeks later, our patient returned to the office to have her Smile Make Over completed. She was
thrilled and comfortable. It was a true celebration and one of the reasons Dr Leonardi does the work that she does.

A night guard was fabricated to protect the restorations and stop the impacts of any clenching and grinding. These are made by our lab and fit comfortably for our patients.
